It seems like just yesterday that the season came to an end at Manchester City away - a game that most Aston Villa fans have done their best to forget.
And now we’re already on the home stretch towards the 2022/23 campaign.
Villa will start the new season with a road trip to Premier League newcomers Bournemouth before facing Frank Lampard’s Everton at Villa Park.
It’s the eighth time in nine top flight campaigns that Villa have started with an away day which in fairness, isn’t the worst thing for the fans.
Last year saw the claret and blue boast a better away record than home record and whilst Steven Gerrard will be determined to improve those Villa Park statistics in the coming months, he’ll also be hoping to replicate some of the top away performances from 21/22.
Here’s nine key away fixtures for Aston Villa fans to put in their diary ahead of the new season getting underway on August 6th.

1. Bournemouth - 6th August

2. Leeds United - 1st October
Last season’s trip to Elland Road was a memorable one. Games with Leeds are always spicy and we’ll take a repeat of last year all day. | Getty Images

3. Nottingham Forest - 8th October
Just a week after a trip to Leeds, Villa fans get a trip to newcomers Nottingham Forest. Nothing quite like a Nottingham away day too - get it in the diary.

4. Leicester City - 10th September
