It seems like just yesterday that the season came to an end at Manchester City away - a game that most Aston Villa fans have done their best to forget.
And now we’re already on the home stretch towards the 2022/23 campaign.
Villa will start the new season with a road trip to Premier League newcomers Bournemouth before facing Frank Lampard’s Everton at Villa Park.
It’s the eighth time in nine top flight campaigns that Villa have started with an away day which in fairness, isn’t the worst thing for the fans.
Last year saw the claret and blue boast a better away record than home record and whilst Steven Gerrard will be determined to improve those Villa Park statistics in the coming months, he’ll also be hoping to replicate some of the top away performances from 21/22.
Here’s nine key away fixtures for Aston Villa fans to put in their diary ahead of the new season getting underway on August 6th.

6. Manchester City - 11th February
Revenge calls for the last day of the 21/22 season. Villa have shown they are more than capable of taking it to the champions. With more exciting additions this summer, Gerrard will be desperate to get one back on them. | AFP via Getty Images

7. Manchester United - 29th April

8. Wolves - 6th May
Villa’s nearest rivals in the Premier League did the double last season. That simply cannot happen in 22/23. Hopefully with something to play for at this stage for the Villans, it will make for an even feistier affair. | Getty Images
