The latest on Morgan Rogers’ fitness as the Aston Villa attacker is listed as a doubt to take on Liverpool by FPL.

Rogers has been noted as an injury doubt by Fantasy Premier League ahead of Aston Villa’s trip to Liverpool, but the reality is different.

The attacking midfielder was substituted in the 69th minute of Villa’s 4-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, just moments after receiving treatment. As Rogers was seen hobbling to the sideline before going off, many assumed it was an injury.

It quickly became apparent from the press box, however, that Rogers was fine to carry on and he even pleaded with Unai Emery to cancel his substitution. It was too late at that stage, though, as the fourth official had already lifted his board to signal the introduction of Jhon Duran.

Fantasy Premier League players may have noticed Rogers has been flagged as having a 75 per cent chance of facing Liverpool this Saturday, but there are no concerns whatsoever from Villa’s perspective. Emery even confirmed himself during the post-match press conference that Rogers is fine.

“I think Morgan will be ok because he wanted to carry on playing but I decided no because after two kicks I had an opportunity to play some minutes with two strikers,” Emery said. Rogers, who has scored 44 FPL points so far this season owing to three goals and two assists, will almost certainly start against Liverpool.

There’s not such good news for Matty Cash, though, as the right-back is a big doubt after being forced off against Tottenham with a calf injury. Ross Barkley is another player set to miss Villa’s next matches as the midfielder is recovering from what Emery has described as a ‘small injury’.
