Former Aston Villa and Norwich City coach sacked by non-league club
A non-league club has made a decision on the right-hand man of a former Aston Villa boss.
Boston United have parted company with former Aston Villa assistant manager Ian Culverhouse.
Despite guiding the Pilgrims to promotion last season via the play-offs, they have opted to part ways with the former defender. At the time of his departure from the Boston Community Stadium, Boston were second from bottom, and five points adrift of safety.
His final game in charge was a 1-1 draw with Eastleigh. In a statement posted by Boston on Monday afternoon, it read: “A difficult start to life in the National League has led to a change being made.
“The club extend their thanks to Ian for his service – and wish him well for the future.”
Culverhouse served as an assistant to Paul Lambert at Wycombe Wanderers, Colchester United, Norwich City, and Aston Villa. Since 2017, Culverhouse has been working as a manager in the non-league. He had two spells at King's Lynn Town, and guided to promotion via the play-offs. Culverhouse was also in charge of Grantham Town and Kettering Town.
During his playing career, he was a 1983/84 UEFA Cup winner with Spurs, and also played for Norwich, Swindon Town, and Brighton & Hove Albion.
