Unai Emery has ruled out Phillipe Coutinho ahead of Aston Villa’s UEFA Europa Conference League qualifier with Hibernian.

Coutinho could be seen limping off in Villa's 4-0 win over Everton, having only come on as a substitute for 20 minutes. Emery revealed that he believes it's a hamstring injury that Coutinho suffered but that it wasn't a 'big' injury, however he would be assessed on Monday.

The 51-year-old put a time scale of two to three weeks on the Brazilian, and that will at least rule him out for both legs of their Conference League qualifiers with Hibs. It’s a slight blow to Coutinho, who had been making progress in pre-season and wanted to make an impact.

Meanwhile Jaden Philogene missed Sunday's match with a knock, though he is in discussions with the club about a possible move to Championship outfit Hull City. The 21-year-old and Keinan Davies are being linked with a £6m double swoop, and are unlikely to feature this midweek amid the uncertainty of their futures.

January signing Alex Moreno is out after suffering a hamstring injury. The 30-year-old suffered the injury at the end of the season, and underwent surgery. Tim Iroegbunam is out with his return date uncertain, whilst Jacob Ramsey is another who won't be playing after breaking his metatarsal.

Emi Buendia and Tyrone Mings are two long-term absentees and Emery paid tribute to them. Buendia suffered his injury in training which is a ligament concern, meanwhile Mings was stretchered off in the heavy defeat to Newcastle United.

Bertrand Traore is to return to training shortly after an injury whilst on international duty with Burkina Faso, but is a doubt. Leander Dendoncker is another absentee after suffering an injury in pre-season with no return date set as of yet.

Meanwhile for Hibs, they could be without two of their summer signings in the aftermath to their 2-1 win over Raith Rovers. Dylan Vente was on the score sheet for the Edinburgh side, but he was caught in the face in stoppage time, and he had to go down the tunnel having bled from the nose.

Hibs assistant manager Adam Owen said 'he should be fine' but will be assessed closer to time. Hibernian though are expected to be without Dylan Levitt, who suffered an ankle injury in the 2-2 draw with Luzern last week. He was seen with a protective boot and missed the weekend clash with Raith, and is unlikely to play.
