Aston Villa are in transfer talks with Hull City about a possible £5m signing for the Championship club.

Aston Villa's Jaden Philogene-Bidace is understood to be in talks over a move to Hull City, according to reports.

Philogene was not in the Villa squad to face Everton yesterday, and now it has emerged that the Villains are in talks with the Championship about a possible move to the Tigers. Hull Live report that Hull are'hopeful of landing the in-demand winger' and a deal could be concluded this week.

A report from The Athletic on Monday claims that Hull are trying to sign the winger for 'around £5m', after a knock had ruled him out of Sunday’s match. The 21-year-old came off the bench against Newcastle United last week in the 5-1 defeat, and so his absence at Villa Park on Sunday, would have raised a few eyebrows given how the depth of the squad has been stretched following a spate of injuries.

Furthering on from The Athletic's report, it is claimed the player 'wants more minutes' and that they are open to letting him leave on a permanent deal for the right fee, though there will also be a buy-back option. He is not being considered for another loan move and now a decision is expected to be made in the next ‘48 hours’.

Earlier this summer, Unai Emery said that Villa had offers from Philogene, but that he would be staying at Villa Park. The winger was one of the best performers during pre-season and had seemingly played his way into the Spainiard’s plans

“Jaden is the player with the most positive surprise we are seeing,” said 51-year-old. That’s the reason why he started the three matches in the starting XI and played well.

“He has offers to leave but at the moment we are going to stay with him and we are going to decide. But if he stays in the performance like he is doing, he has possibilities and has potential in our squad for next season.”

Philogene joined the Villa in January 2018 after joining from the Pro:Direct Academy which is based in London, and beat Brentford to his signature. To date, Philogene has made six senior appearances for the club, and has also had two loan spells in the Championship with Stoke City and Cardiff City respectively.
