'Medical booked' - Aston Villa star close to Cardiff City transfer

Aston Villa defender Calum Chambers is reportedly set for a move away from the club.
Reports are circulating on social media that EFL Championship club Cardiff City are 'close' to signing Chambers from the Villains. WalesOnline journalist Glen Williams says that Cardiff are 'close to signing' Chambers. The deal has progressed quickly and Chambers is a player that they have 'liked for a while'. A medical has been booked in and Chambers is expected to join the club in the coming days.

It is unsure yet whether the move would be a loan or a permanent, but if he were to depart then it would likely bring an end to his Villa career.
Yesterday after a 1-0 defeat to Kidderminster Harriers, Bluebirds boss Erol Bulut provided a transfer update: "We are negotiating, we are almost finished negotiating with a few players. I think it will take one or two days to get some players in.
"We are close to three players and I hope we can finalise it in the next days."
Chambers still has one year left on his contract at Villa and turned down the opportunity to leave the club in the January window. Hull City and West Brom both plotted a last-ditch offer for him in the January window but he stayed put.

Chambers joined Villa on a free transfer from Arsenal, signing a three-and-a-half-year contract in January 2022. Steven Gerrard was the manager at the time of his arrival, and since joining he has gone on to make 36 appearances for the Villa.
