Aston Villa’s 3-2 defeat to Manchester City on the final day saw them end the 2021/22 season with a 14th place finish in the Premier League table.
After finishing 11th in the campaign prior and strengthening the squad in the summer, a backwards step is far from what many expected or at least hoped for.
But things aren’t all bleak.
Since the arrival of Steven Gerrard, the team have improved and his signings since becoming head coach have been nothing short of brilliant.
Lucas Digne, Calum Chambers, Philippe Coutinho and Boubacar Kamara will all be vital cogs in the wheel moving forward and with plenty more expected - the future is looking bright.
Money isn’t an issue for this Villa hierarchy and the purse strings will once again be loosened over the coming months but just how much were they rewarded for their below par 14th place finish this season?
In the grand scheme of things it may not seem much but the slight movement up or down the league can be worth millions at this level.
Here, BirminghamWorld takes a look at how much the Villa are set to earn compared to their rivals.
