Aston Villa right-back and former Nottingham Forest man Matty Cash sent his congratulations to his old club following their promotion back to the Premier League, tweeting out a ‘Congrats Unbelievable! @NFFC’ after the 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town.

Cash, who spent six years at Forest between 2014 and 2020, has remained incredibly fond of the Reds and has showed his support for them numerous times via social media over the course of the season.

Prior to the play-off final, he tweeted out, ‘All the best today @NFFC get the club back to where it belongs’ whilst also sharing their post on his Instagram with the message ‘come on the boys’ attached.

The now Polish international joined Villa from the City Ground in 2020 on a five-year contract and quickly endeared himself to the claret and blue faithful, just as he had with those at Forest.

He pledged his future to the club amid interest from Atletico Madrid earlier this season by signing a new five-year contract extension, keeping him at Villa Park until 2027 and has more recently been voted Villa’s ‘Player of the Year’ by the fans for his performances over the course of the 21/22 campaign.
