The Midlands club ended the last campaign in 14th place in the table.

Here is a look at the latest news coming out of the club...

Winger attracting interest

Ajax are reportedly interested in Aston Villa winger Anwar El Ghazi.

He has slipped down the pecking order and was loaned out to fellow Premier League side Everton last term.

The Mirror claim he is ‘open’ to a move back to Holland, with PSV also keen.

Aston Villa will apparently look to move out Marvelous Nakamba and Morgan Sanson before the end of the month.

The midfield pair moved to England in 2019 and 2021 respectively but don’t appear to be part of Gerrard’s first-team plans anymore.

As detailed in a report by the Daily Mail, the club will seek to ‘offload’ them.

Sarr pursuit

It has been well documented that Watford’s Ismaila Sarr has seen a move to Villa Park fall through.

The winger remains at Vicarage Road following the Hornets’ relegation to the Championship last season.

Gerrard has spoken about why his side pulled out of a deal, as per The Athletic:

“What I can say is if there is something not right, not just in this instance but with any player we are looking at, it has to feel right in every area.

“If it is not, we won’t go there.”
