In the meantime, Villa are eyeing up a right-back who currently plays in Ligue 1. Unai Emery’s men are thought to be ‘interested’ in a move for the player - can they reach a deal before the transfer window slams shut on August 30?
Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran ‘wants’ transfer move to West Ham United
Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran looks likely to leave the club over the course of the summer transfer window. Several clubs, including Chelsea, have previously been linked with the young Colombian - now, West Ham United are looking to secure his services. Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui is thought to be a fan of Duran’s - hence their desire to bring him on board. The two clubs have yet to reach an agreement in the proposed transfer fee, but both parties are looking to reach a ‘compromise’.

“Duran wants the move too and he’s made it clear to Aston Villa and his representatives that he wants to come to West Ham. Lopetegui is a big reason for this too we understand, with him being Spanish speaking which will help the player do well and settle in.
“We still hope and are relatively confident that Aston Villa will lower their demands and hopefully go to a more incentive based financial package. Other forwards however are being talked about.”

Hide AdVilla ‘interested’ in Ligue 1 defender Lorenz Assignon
Villa have been linked with a move for Rennes defender Lorenz Assingnon, according to a recent report from Villa Report on their official X (formerly Twitter) page.
Assignon is no stranger to the Premier League - last season, he spent a brief spell on loan at Burnley, though he was unable to help the Clarets from avoiding relegation at the end of the campaign. Burnley were previously looking to turn his loan deal into a permanent transfer, but nothing has progressed since they stated their initial intention. As such, the door is wide open for Villa to make a move.
While playing under Vincent Kompany at Turf Moor in the latter half of the 2023/24 season, Assingnon made 15 appearances in the Premier League, scoring a single goal and notching up a pair of assists along the way. Furthermore, while at Rennes, he scored one goal and registered two assists in Ligue 1.
