Aston Villa and Ajax meet again for the second leg of their Europa Conference League clash, which will be held at Villa Park.

The two could not be separated last week as they played to a goalless draw at the Johan Cryuff Arena. Both teams had players sent off with Ezri Konsa and Tristan Gooijer dismissed. The match was fairly even with both teams having four shots and only one landed on target whilst Ajax had 60-40% possession and played more passes.

In the build-up to the match, Villa suffered a devastating 4-0 defeat to Spurs at home on Sunday. All four goals came in the second-half with four different scorers and it has damaged their Champions League hopes. They remain ahead of Tottenham Hotspur by two points but the North London club have a game in hand.

As for Ajax, they drew 2-2 with mid-table Fortuna Sitard at home on Sunday. Kenneth Taylor opened the scoring for the hosts but then Deroy Duarte and Kaj Siehuis put Fortuna in front but Brian Brobbey equalised two minutes from time. Ajax are fifth in the current league standings and six points off of an automatic Europa Conference League spot.

Here's the latest injury and team news ahead of the clash which takes place at 8.00 pm on Thursday (March 14).

Aston Villa team news

Ezri Konsa will be missing after picking up a red card against Ajax. Matty Cash replaced Pau Torres in defence last week, pushing Konsa in to the centre and so Cash could earn a start, and so could Torres.

Jacob Ramsey didn't play in the first leg and has missed the past few games with a foot injury. He is a major doubt for Thursday as Villa take a cautious approach on the England under-21 international who has missed some games this season with a foot problem.

"We are waiting if he’s getting better to start training," responded Emery when asked if Ramsey could return against West Ham. This week it could be but it’s not completely sure he’ll be ready."

Boubacar Kamara underwent surgery in late February after suffering an ACL injury against Manchester United. He is expected to be out until the end of October and the injury came at a time when the midfielder was making a push for France's EURO 2024 squad.

Emi Buendia and Tyrone Mings both suffered serious knee injuries in August and required surgery. Both players are long in to their rehabilitation phase and are making progress but won't play a part this season.

Ajax team news

Centre-back Josip Sutalo didn't play against Aston Villa in the first leg but could play on Thursday. He had a knock last week but was fit enough to play the entire match against Fortuna Sittard. His fellow centre-back Tristan Gooijer will miss the game through suspension.

Steven Berghuis is carrying a knock and might miss out. He had a 'good chance' of making it at the weekend but ended up not being included in the squad. Former Spurs winger Steven Bergwijn has a hamstring injury and isn't expected to feature.
