Aston Villa have another chance to improve on their disappointing start to the season on Wednesday night.

Steven Gerrard’s men have won just one of their first four games so far, losing three and picking up just three points from a possible 12.

On Wednesday night, Villa face Arsenal away from home, and an Arsenal side who have won all of their games so far, no less.

It will be another big test for Villa, and in the meantime, they will be considering more additions ahead of Thursday night’s transfer deadline.

With that in mind, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Villa Park.

Luiz interest

Douglas Luiz is attracting plenty of attention ahead of the deadline.

Villa have been hoping to tie the Brazilian down to a new deal, ahead of his contract expiring next summer, but they haven’t managed to agree new terms to date.

That could put Villa in a situation where they are better off selling ahead of the deadline, rather than losing Luiz for nogninb next summer.

Matheus Leal has claimed Liverpool are set to make a £20million offer in a bid to sign the midfielder.

Meanwhile, it has been claimed elsewhere that both Arsenal and Newcastle United are interested in Luiz as the deadline closes in.

Dawson problem

Villa have been heavily linked with a move for West Ham star Craig Dawson over recent days as they look to cover for the injury absence of Diego Carlos.

But according to Alan Nixon, Leicester City are now ready to rival Villa for the signing of Dawson.

Leicester have lost Wesley Fofana to Chelsea, and they need a centre-back in a rush, and indeed on a budget, keen to balance the books.

Villa need to get a move on if they want to win the race.
