Aston Villa fell to their third defeat of the new campaign on Sunday against West Ham United leaving Steven Gerrard’s side 15th in the Premier League table.

The Villans have won just one league game this campaign, beating Everton 2-1 at home on August 13, but have struggled in all areas of the pitch for some time now.

Gerrard, who was appointed Villa boss in November last year following the sacking of Dean Smith, has a worrying record in charge of the club, winning just 12 of his 33 games in all competitions so far.

The 42-year-old has led his team to just three victories in their last 10 league games, including last season, leading fans and pundits to question whether he is the right man for the job.

Villa’s next two league fixtures are arguably their toughest of the campaign based on form, with Gerrard’s men first travelling to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening to face league leaders Arsenal, before taking on second-place Manchester City at home three days later.
