Aston Villa team news ahead of Bournemouth as two confirmed out

“He trained for the first time yesterday (Thursday) for the first time in a week. He got an injury in the behind-closed-doors game with Fulham which was disappointing because he was in a right positive place off the back of the Australian tour.

“I’m hoping he’s had no feelings from yesterday’s session because he trained with the group. We’ll analyse that situation tomorrow (Saturday). But, yeah, he’s had a minor setback from his pre-season preparation.”

Aston Villa will be without defender Kortney Hause and forward Keinan Davis for the Premier League opener against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

Hause continues to recover from an injury that he picked up at the back end of last season, whilst Davis is also on his own comeback trail and will play 45 minutes for the U21s on Friday evening.

Elsewhere, Tyrone Mings and Emi Buendia both picked up little niggles in training this week though both are expected to make the trip to the south coast.

Away from that, the claret & blue go into the match in fine health and manager Steven Gerrard will have a few tough selection headaches ahead of him.

“It was a bit of a tweak in his quad but I haven’t heard nothing from the medical department after he trained fully yesterday so I assume he’s going to be OK to be involved.”

“Keinan [Davis] should play 45 today in the reserves, he’s trained for the last couple of days,” he added.

“Kortney [Hause] is outside with the physio but he hasn’t done any group stuff yet, everyone else should be available.”
