Aston Villa transfer target Yves Bissouma could soon find himself on the radar of Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, according to a report from TalkSport.

The Brighton & Hove Albion star has long been linked with a move to Villa Park with the Seagulls understood to have rejected an approach from the club in January.

It is believed that Steven Gerrard is still keen on a move for the 25-year old Malain but could be set to face competition for his signature if one of the French side’s star players secures a move away.

Here are the latest reports surrounding Bissouma’s future including Aston Villa’s ongoing interest in the midfielder:

Earlier this week it was reported by the Birmingham Mail that Villa’s interest in Yves Bissouma “is still live” and “a summer move could still be on the cards”.

Steven Gerrard attempted to sign the midfielder in January but a bid of £30m might be enough for Brighton to allow the player to leave this summer.

However, the latest reports surrounding the future may see Villa face serious competition for the player if another midfielder makes a high profile move of his own.

Monaco starlet Aurelien Tchouameni is one of the most sought after young players in world football at the moment with Liverpool, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain all being linked.

According to TalkSport, if the 22-year old does leave the Ligue 1 side in the next few weeks then they will turn to Bissouma as his replacement.

The chances of Tchouameni leaving Monaco look likely but it appears it will not be for the Premier League with Champions League winners Real Madrid thought to be the front runners.

As quoted by TalkSport, current Real star Eduardo Camavinga was interviewed by French publication L’Equipe about his countryman joining the Spanish giants and said: “It would be fun, that’s for sure! He’s a player I’ve already met in the national team.

“I hope he comes to Madrid. I don’t know exactly how the situation is, but I’ve already talked to him.”

Who will Aston Villa sign next?

Aston Villa have already been the busiest club in the Premier League so far when it comes to signings.

Goalkeeper Robin Olsen is expected to make his loan move from AS Roman permanent in the coming days, making him the club’s fourth capture following on from Boubacar Kamara, Diego Carlos and Philippe Coutinho who also turned his loan stay from Barcelona into a permanent move.

With a left sided defender, full back and midfielder still thought to be amongst Steven Gerrard’s targets for the summer window it looks like the club are far from finished doing deals.

James Tarkowski could be the player who they look to recruit at centre back with the Burnley skipper set to leave Turf Moor when his contract expires at the end of the month.

However, Everton are widely reported as having already made a contract offer to the England international and are favourites to land his signature.

Dwight McNeil is another Burnley player who has been linked with both Villa and the Toffees but there have been no recent reports on his immediate future.

Villa are still being heavily linked with former Liverpool skipper Luis Suarez should they move for a new striker while Steven Gerrard’s side are also thought to be amongst the contenders for Everton’s Brazilian international attacker Richarlison - should he decide to leave Goodison Park.
