Aston Villa have been the team to watch in the Premier League so far this summer in terms of transfers.

Steven Gerrard and his recruitment staff are on fire, already bringing in three players, and the summer window hasn’t even officially opened yet.

Philippe Coutinho will be staying full-time after his successful loan spell, while Villa have also agreed a deal to sign Boubacar Kamara on a free transfer from Marseille.

The good news has not ended there, either, with Villa also splashing out upwards of £20million in a bid to fix their defensive issues.

Diego Carlos is joining from Sevilla, and that is another eyebrow raising transfer, with Gerrard making a real statement of intent.

More additions could be on their way, and there should also be outgoing before the window ends.

With that in mind, we have rounded up the latest rumours.

Olsen talks

One story that seemed to go a little under the radar amid the Diego Carlos deal is Villa’s reported intent to land Robin Olsen on a permanent deal.

The goalkeeper spent this season on loan at Villa Park from AS Roma, and Gerrard is said to want to keep him around full-time.

Fabrizio Romano says a £5million option to buy in the loan deal could be completed ‘soon’.

Talks are said to be ongoing with the player.

Wilson deal

Villa are also said to be closing in on the signing of Rangers starlet Rory Wilson.

Wilson has found himself in demand this summer, still only 16 years of age, and The Athletic are now saying a deal could be completed in the ‘coming weeks’.

Gerrard and Villa have been aggressive in improving their immediate squad, but it seems they also have eyes on the future.

Wilson looks to be an eye-catching talent, and he will likely join up with the development squad should he complete the move.
