Aston Villa submit ‘enquiry’ for Bundesliga star as Besiktas locked ‘in talks’ with midfielder

Aston Villa are hoping to kick on from their first win of the season.

The Midlands club lost their first game of the season, but they have since picked up a win in their first home outing, defeating Everton.

Steven Gerrard’s men will be looking to make it two wins when they take on Crystal Palace this weekend, but it has been a turbulent week.

Diego Carlos has been ruled out for the rest of the season, and that news could reshape the rest of Villa’s transfer window.

Forsberg interest

Villa are said to have sent an enquiry over RB Leipzig star Emil Forsberg.

The attacking midfielder is said to be someone Gerrard is keen on, according to BILD, and Forsberg’s agent recently issued an update.

He said: “There are many enquiries for Emil. But so far a transfer has not been an issue because Emil loves the city and the club.

“Emil has always stood by the club. Now there is a rotation due to the many strong players, which is also ok.

“What is not ok at all is that Emil is not in this rotation. Emil trains well and deserves respect. But there are people in the club who don’t seem to want that.”

Sanson ‘talks’

Besiktas are believed to be in talks with Villa star Morgan Sanson.

The midfielder has featured sparingly since arriving at Villa in January of 2021, making just 20 appearances so far.

According to Takvim, Turkish club Besiktas in talks over a deal for Sanson, with the Frenchman’s contract still set to run until 2025.

Sanson has not been named in either of Villa’s squad for the first two games of the season despite being fit.
