There are still some pre-season fixtures to get through, so as the clubs prepare to return to Premier League action, let’s take a look at some of the latest transfer headlines.

Aston Villa star ‘open to leaving’

While talks over Jhon Duran’s potential exit continue, the striker isn’t the only Aston Villa player who could be sold this summer. The Villans have already signed off on some significant sales as they bank important cash and they could be looking at negotiating another departure.

According to Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports, Fulham have held ‘initial talks’ over signing Diego Carlos ahead of the new season. Other clubs have also been credited with interest and the centre-back is said to be ‘open to leaving’ Villa this summer.

Carlos is under contract at Villa Park until 2026 so a sale this summer will most likely guarantee significantly more money than a sale next year when he approaches the final 12 months of his terms. The 31-year-old had a mixed 2023/24 season, making 27 Premier League appearances but missing out in featuring in 11. The Brazilian also struggled with injury during the season prior — Carlos was sidelined for more than 200 days after suffering an achilles rupture.

Wolves midfielder delivers verdict on future

Wolves midfielder and academy product Luke Cundle was sent out on two separate loan moves last season at Plymouth Argyle and Stoke City. He almost left Molineux permanently in January in a £2 million move but he has returned to the club and hopes he will be able to hold discussions with Wolves over his future.

When asked if he will stay with Wolves, Cundle said: “I don’t know that yet. I’m just taking it day by day and I’m sure we’ll have a chat, maybe in the next couple of weeks. We’ll see.

“Obviously, I’d be delighted [to stay]. But there are a lot of things to take into account, all I can do is do my best every time I get the chance to play,” (via Express and Star).

The 22-year-old has made just seven senior appearances for Wolves so far since breaking his way into the first team, his last was a five minute Premier League cameo back in 2022 in a 5-1 loss against Manchester City.
