Aston Villa are ‘in talks’ to complete their second summer capture from Sevilla as they look to bring left-back Ludwig Augustinsson to the club.

That’s according to the Daily Mail who claim the signing would be initially a loan one, though an option to buy would be included within the deal.

Augustinsson would be brought in as cover for first-choice Lucas Digne following Matt Targett’s permanent move to Newcastle United but with five substitutes now allowed in the Premier League - he shouldn’t be short of minutes at Villa Park.

The defender who has 46 caps for Sweden was an apparent target for Leeds United last summer before his move to Sevilla where has has since failed to hold down a starting place.

He made just 19 La Liga appearances throughout the last campaign though was still involved in a handful of Champions League and Europa League fixtures including playing the full 120 minutes against West Ham United.

Prior to his stint in La Liga, he has always predominantly been the first-choice in his poisition includng during his time at Bundesliga giants Werder Bremen and FC Copenhagen where he won the Danish Superliga two years in a row.

If a signing is to be completed, Augustinsson will fly out to Australia to meet his new teammates as they prepare for their first games of the Queensland Champions Cup.
