Aston Villa continued their poor form over the weekend, making it three straight losses following a defeat to Midlands rivals Wolves.

Steven Gerrard’s men are now hanging on to a top-half spot by the skin of their teeth, and they could slip into the bottom half with Crystal Palace still to play.

Though, generally, Villa will be pleased with how the season has shaken up given their poor start to the campaign.

And as they begin to look ahead to the summer, we have taken a look at all the latest transfer rumours.

Phillips latest

Villa continue to be linked with a move for Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips ahead of the summer.

The latest report, from The Telegraph, claims Villa are eyeing a ‘tricky’ swoop for Phillips this summer and are willing to pay £60million.

That price could put the Lions in the hunt, but they could yet be rivalled by bigger clubs this summer.

Liverpool and Manchester United are among a number of sides also said to be keen on the England international.

Missed windfall

Villa are set to miss out on a transfer windfall this summer, it seems.

According to Football Insider, Everton have no plans to make the loan signing of Anwar El Ghazi permanent ahead of next season.

El Ghazi has made just two Premier League appearances for Everton and appears to be headed back to Villa Park, at least temporarily.

He joined the club from Lille for £8m back in 2019.
