Aston Villa injury latest regarding Louie Barry

Hull City boss Ruben Selles has said he is hoping Aston Villa loanee Louie Barry can return for their final two games of the campaign. The Tigers are five fixtures left to play. They are currently battling to preserve their Championship status and are two points above the drop zone ahead of their tie against Coventry City on Monday night.

Barry, 21, joined the East Yorkshire outfit on loan in the January transfer window. He spent the first-half of this term with Stockport County in League One and was a hit during his time at Edgeley Park before returning to Villa Park. However, he suffered a knee injury just four matches into his spell at the MKM Stadium and has since been back with his parent club.

In this latest update regarding his condition, Selles has said, as per a report by HullLive: "He's still not working with us. He's still with Aston Villa. We are looking forward to him coming to us at any moment, hopefully during the next week. We are looking forward to it. They need to take the test and everything next week to see if he's progressing in the way that we want and if he can play a couple of games for us or not."

Aston Villa reaction to Southampton win

Aston Villa will be relieved that they got the job done against Southampton. Speaking after their victory, Emery said: “Very important. We didn’t achieve a lot of points at the beginning of the season, because we didn’t have enough players in the bench, because they were not fit, because they were injured. We joined in the transfer window, four players, really helping and really increasing our competitive way, to get the points we are getting.”

He added: “Really, I want to enjoy the moment we have, and the matches we are going to face with our supporters. Today, they were supporting us here, and really, it’s to be thankful for everybody helping us because the motivation we have through them, we can feel even more, and we can feel stronger in everything.

“Of course, playing tactically, being organised, playing individually with our skills, but as well, with emotions. This is really a good momentum for us now, in (the) Premier League, because it’s the main target we have, to try to get through it again, our objective for next year.”
