And they now turn their attention to a clash with Rennes before their Premier League opener against Bournemouth the following week.

It has been a busy summer for Villa, who have added fresh faces aplenty over the course of the summer window so far.

But they could yet add more, with plenty of time remaining until the window slams shut.

With that in mind, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Villa Park.

El Ghazi latest

Villa are struggling to offload Anwar El Ghazi this summer.

The Egyptian is said to be on the transfer list this summer, but interest is few and far between.

The Birmingham Mail say no team has expressed an interest in buying El Ghazi so far, and Gerrard may have to consider comissioning a loan deal instead.

A loan wouldn’t be ideal for Villa, who will have been hoping to secure a fee, given El Ghazi is out of contract next summer.

A loan deal would almost certainly mean Villa end up losing him for nothing next year.

Suarez completes move

Luis Suarez has been heavily linked with a move to Villa this summer.

The veteran striker left Atletico Madrid this summer at the end of his contract, and he has been on the lookout for a new club.

Given the Gerrard links, there were rumours he could sign for Villa to add strength to the front line.

But the 35-year-old has now confirmed he is rejoining boyhood club Nacional.

He returns to Uruguay after 17 years to complete an impressive career.
