All the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Aston Villa as Unai Emery continues to work on improving his squad.

Aston Villa are now stepping up their preparations for the new season as they prepare to make a run at the top four.

Unai Emery’s men enjoyed a fine finish to last season, and big things are expected of them ahead of the new campaign. That is, in part, because Emery has been backed significantly this summer, with big-name signings such as Pau Torres and Youri Tielemans, and they are not likely to be done there.

Villa are still in the process of building a serious squad ahead of the new season, and with that in mind, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Villa Park.

Diaby latest

Villa still have plenty of work to do before they can sign Moussa Diaby, according to the latest report.

Emery is said to be a big fan of the Bayer Leverkusen winger, but Villa are likely to have competition. In the meantime, the club are said to be working on a deal, but it remains a complicated process.

According to Football Insider, Villa have made a £42million bid for Diaby, but it’s claimed the winger is ‘yet to be convinced’ by the project at Villa Park. Talks are said to be continuing, but with other clubs likely to come to the table, Villa may need to act quickly if they want to avoid seeing the winger’s head being turned by interest from potentially bigger clubs.

Doku bid rejected

Elsewhere, it’s being claimed that Villa are concentrating on the signing of Rennes winger Jeremy Doku.

According to Ghana Soccer Net via Sport Witness, Villa have submitted a bid worth £22million to sign the winger, but it’s claimed Rennes have rejected that offer.

It’s claimed the French club are looking for a fee worth £34million, and that is, at least, cheaper than Bayer Leverkusen will demand for Diaby this summer.
