Aston Villa are now on the sidelines as they wait for the international break to play out.

It has been a largely frustrating start to the season for the Lions, but Steven Gerrard’s men will be delighted to have gone into the break on the back of a key home win over Southampton.

With four points from the last two games, there are some encouraging signs for Villa as they look to put together a much improved campaign.

Next up, Villa will take on Leeds United away from home, but in the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Villa Park.

Digne injury details

There are fresh details over Lucas Digne’s injury.

It emerged on Wednesday that Digne had picked up an injury during international duty with France, but there were few details.

L’Equipe are now reporting Digne could be out ‘for weeks’ after picking up the ankle injury.

Scans have revealed that the left-back has suffered a fractured ankle, picking up the injury shortly after arriving at the France camp.

That’s a big concern for Villa as injury issues mount up, though, fractures can actually prove far less troubling than ligament injuries in many cases.

Gerrard’s plans

Steven Gerrard is hoping to arrange a friendly during the international break to keep the players still in camp fresh.

It has been a turbulent period due to the recent postponement, before returning to face Southampton and then going into the international break.

Gerrard wants to combat that with a friendly clash, according to the Express and star.

The Villa boss recently said: “We will put all we can into focusing about the next game. It will be tough but we should go there (to Leeds) with more confidence now.

“We haven’t got many about but the players have been under pressure, like myself. I want to let them breathe for a few days. We will come in and work hard in the middle of the international break.”
