Bijol represented Slovenia at Euro 2024, swiftly establishing himself as their most important defender. He kept the likes of Rafael Leao, Diogo Jota and Cristiano Ronaldo quiet in the last 16 when they faced Portugal as he cleared countless balls into the box as they held out for a penalty shoot-out, where they would ultimately fall foul of some spectacular goalkeeping from Diogo Costa.
He also put forth an excellent display against England in the group stage - the Three Lions were keen to impress, but Bijol did not let them and he played a major role in keeping England shut out.
