Aston Villa are set to lose out on two transfer targets in Craig Dawson and Jan Bednarek with both seemingly favouring moves elsewhere.

Villa have been strongly linked with Dawson and Bednarek following the long-term injury suffered by summer signing Diego Carlos but it appears they may now have to look elsewhere.

West Ham United defender Dawson is now in advanced talks to sign with Villa’s West Midlands rivals Wolves whilst Southampton’s Bednarek will act as a replacement for Dawson at the Hammers.

The Athletic journalist David Ornstein reported late last night that Polish international Bednarek was ‘close to an agreement’ with David Moyes’ side but it’s a move that would rest on the future of Dawson.

Soon after, however, Sky Sports stated Wolves were in ‘advanced talks’ with the Hammers for Dawson in an agreement that will likely see him move to the West Midlands on a season-long loan.

Both deals are expected to be completed before the transfer window shuts at 23:00 today meaning Villa have to look elsewhere and fast with time ticking on.
