Aston Villa are gearing up for the summer transfer window with both comings and goings a possibility

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has done an impressive job since taking over back in 2022. Prior to his move, he had previously had spells with the likes of Arsenal and Villarreal. He guided the Midlands outfit into the Champions League last year.

They are now looking to do the same again this time around. Ollie Watkins scored their winner as they won 1-0 away at AFC Bournemouth last time out. Jacob Ramsey was also sent off near the end of the game against the Cherries but his teammates held on for a valuable three points.

Update emerges regarding former Aston Villa man Diego Carlos

According to Turkish news outlet Ajanspor, Fenerbahce will look to sell former Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos this summer. The centre-back, 32, only joined the Turkish Super Ligu giants in the January transfer window. However, he has struggled to make an impact and his future is now up in the air.

Carlos, who is a former Brazil Olympic international, made the switch to Villa Park back in 2022 for £26million and went on to make 58 appearances in all competitions, 17 of which have during the first half of this campaign. He chipped in with a single goal from the back. The Sao Paulo-born man was then given the green light to head out the exit door this past winter but his transfer to Turkey hasn’t gone to plan under Jose Mourinho.

He started his senior career at Sao Paulo before moving over to Europe. Estoril snapped him up in 2014 and he spent two years in Portugal. Spells at Nantes and Sevilla followed on for him in France and Spain respectively. He then tested himself in England for a couple of years at Aston Villa and he may now be on the move again soon.

What now for Aston Villa in the Premier League?

Aston Villa have two more fixtures left to play this term. They are sat in 6th position in the table following their victory at Bournemouth. The top five get into the Champions League so they are in a strong position as they prepare for clashes against Tottenham Hotspur at home and Manchester United away.

Speaking after their three points against the Cherries, Emery said: “It’s very good. I’m very happy and proud but we can’t stop now. We have to keep going. We got Europe last week against Fulham at home and today against Bournemouth, teams that are competing very well and performing very well. They were fighting with us as their opponent.

“They were an opponent for us to get Europe. Now we’re in the run in with the teams fighting for Champions League after the way we did last week and the win we did today. We’re deserving to play the next match against Tottenham having the possibilities to be there, taking even more in Europa League or Champions League.”

He also praised the goal scorer Watkins and added: “It’s fantastic and he deserves everything he is achieving. He’s always working for the team, working to help in everything: tactically, defensively and offensively, and he’s also scoring goals like he did today.”
