Aston Villa are among a number of clubs preparing to make a move for RB Leipzig’s standout midfielder, Konrad Laimer.

That’s according to journalist Ekrem Konur who states that the claret and blue are ‘planning’ to make a ‘€20million offer’ for the Austrian as Steven Gerrard looks to bolster his midfield.

Villa won’t be alone in their pursuit for Laimer, though, with Bayern Munich reportedly leading the race for his signature whilst fellow Premier League rivals Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are also supposedly very keen on the Leipzig man.

Newcastle United have shown previous interest prior to the transfer window opening and with their new found cash-stack, there’s always the opportunity for them to come back in, too.

Whoever lands Laimer wil be landing an incredibly talented footballer with bags of European, international and top-level domestic experience.

He certainly fits the mould of the type of player Gerrard is trying to attract at Villa Park but whether he will be able to see off interest from such elite competition is another thing altogether.
