The 26-year-old has missed the last four games after spraining his knee in the win against Sheffield United. He's now back at Bodymoor Heath and is working towards a return.

Unai Emery is to give an update on Konsa's status on Friday ahead of their trip to Luton Town at the weekend. The match is being broadcast by Sky Sports on Saturday with a 5.30 pm kick-off.

Konsa's potential return comes at a much-needed time with the defence being stretched to their limits. Pau Torres was replaced in Villa's 4-2 win over Nottingham Forest at the weekend after feeling a small pain on the back of his leg. Our friends at the Express & Star claim that the initial prognosis is positive but that he will continue to be assessed.

Calum Chambers came back in to fold at the weekend in what was his first league appearance of the campaign. The 29-year-old had the opportunity to move to the Championship but decided against it, despite spending a majority of the season on the bench with just four appearances in all competitions.

Villa's other centre back option Tyrone Mings made a return to first-team training this month after suffering an ACL injury in their opening league fixture against Newcastle United. Unai Emery did admit that he is still someway off featuring for the first-team and did not expect him to play in the final few months of the campaign.

In the other departments, Boubacar Kamara underwent surgery after suffering an ACL injury whilst Emiliano Buendia also suffered a similar injury which ended his campaign before it began. Jhon Duran is targeting a return in early April whilst Diego Carlos has a hamstring injury that has him out until mid-March.
