Aston Villa and Wolves are now closing in on the end of their respective Premier League campaigns. Villa remain in control of fourth spot for now, although Tottenham can go level on points with them should they win their two games in hand, while Wolves are one point off the top half having played a game more than Brighton above them.

Wolves face Bournemouth this weekend, with Gary O’Neill taking on his former side, while Villa face Chelsea at home in a fascinating clash. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest surrounding the two Midlands clubs.

Stelling on top four race

Former Sky Sports presenter turned TalkSPORT host Jeff Stelling has suggested Villa may come out on top in the top four race. He said on TalkSPORT: “Yes, Spurs have got two games in hand, but Spurs have got blooming tough fixtures, I will tell you that. And Villa are flying at the moment.”

It’s also worth keeping in mind that Villa don’t have easy fixtures, either - taking on Chelsea, Brighton and Liverpool before the end of the season, with Crystal Palace being a more winnable game on paper.

Valles on future

Wolves are reportedly interested in a deal involving Las Palmas goalkeeper Alvaro Valles ahead of this summer, and the keeper has now been speaking on his future and potential opportunities to leave the Canary Islands.

He told UDLasPalmas.net: “I am fine here. If I have to try it one day, I’m not going to say no, either. This is my first experience away from home and I have already been here for six years. If some day a new experience arises and I have to go, I have to welcome it.”
