How Aston Villa's monster £488m squad market value compares to Wolves and Premier League rivals
How Aston Villa’s squad value compares to their Premier League rivals
Aston Villa face a tough task improving their strong squad this summer, as they remain mindful of the constraints placed upon them by PSR while also looking to avoid selling key players wherever possible.

The Villains have built a squad capable of challenging in Europe over recent years, and their 2025/26 Europa League campaign will see them complete the set of competing in all three major European competitions since Unai Emery’s arrival in late 2022.
Villa’s squad therefore reflects that of a European challenger, as what begun as a surprise foray into the Conference League in 2023 has developed into the Birmingham outfit becoming a fully-fledged top seven mainstay. The fact a sixth-placed finish last season was seen as a major disappointment shows just how far they have come.
But how does Villa’s squad compare with those of their rivals? Transfermarkt holds all the answers as to how much the Villains’ squad is worth compared to sides across the Premier League in July 2025.
Aston Villa’s £488m squad contains several gems
Aston Villa’s squad is worth almost £500m as of July 2025, ranking highly within Premier League teams and reflecting just how successful the Villains have been both in the transfer market and in terms of player development under Emery. Villa’s squad is ranked as the ninth-most valuable in the Premier League.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Transfermarkt rate Morgan Rogers as Villa’s most valuable player. The 22-year-old saw a remarkable rise last season to become one of the first names on the team-sheet, earning his senior England debut in November 2024 and becoming a regular face in Thomas Tuchel’s squad in the process - even if he did bizarrely opt to make him come off the bench to lead the line in the Three Lions’ recent humbling defeat to Senegal. Transfermarkt believe Rogers’ market value is €55m (£47.3m), just edging out Amadou Onana (€50m/£43m), who is viewed as the second-most valuable player in the Villains squad.
Other high-value players within Villa’s ranks include Ezri Konsa (€35m/£30m), Boubacar Kamara (€40m/£34.4m), Youri Tielemans (€38m/£32.7m) and Ollie Watkins (€40m/£34.4m). Emiliano Martinez is only valued at €20m (£17.2m), likely due to his age. Worth noting is that these figures are viewed as a player’s accurate market value according to Transfermarkt, not their value to Villa - so expect at least a 20% increase in price if any of the above players were to be sold by the club.
The squad value of local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers pales in comparison to that of Villa. Valued at £279.2m overall, Wolves’ most valuable players according to Transfermarkt are Joao Gomes (€40m/£34.4m) and Jorgen Strand Larsen (€30m/£25.8m). Interestingly, the market value estimations view Wolves’ squad as almost equidistant in terms of price disparity from Aston Villa and from Birmingham City in the opposite direction - with Blues’ squad valued at £66.7m.
