Aston Villa moved ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League table with a 1-0 win over Fulham at Villa Park on Tuesday night.
Tyrone Mings headed home from John McGinn’s corner after 21 minutes as Fulham failed to produce a shot on target. Fulham looked like they might have snatched a point in the 83rd minute but the offside flag was raised after Harrison Reed’s delivery went in off Mings.
The result moves Unai Emery’s side a point above Spurs into fifth, although the North London club are in action against Manchester United later this week.
Villa are now four points ahead of Liverpool in seventh, although they have played two games more as the Reds prepare for a clash with West Ham on Wednesday night.
