Arsenal aren’t expected to revisit their interest in Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz in the January transfer window.

That’s according to transfer insider Dean Jones who states that the Gunners are more likely to make a move for Luiz’s fellow countryman, Palmeiras midfielder, Danilo.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones claims that Arsenal are expected send a new bid in for the 21-year-old, who they reportedly had a £20million bid rejected for this summer.

“I think we can expect Arsenal to maintain their interest in Danilo, who they had set as a top tier target heading into the summer window,” he explained.

“There was a temptation to try for him because of their situation but he’s a young player in Brazil and they are content that they will lead the way for him next year anyway.”

The Gunners were rebuffed several times in their attempts to sign a defensive midfielder this summer - including having three bids rejected by Villa on deadline day for Luiz.

A final offer of £25million was submitted before Arsenal gave up their attempts in signing the claret and blue star.
