Aston Villa reportedly rejected three offers for Douglas Luiz during the January transfer window.

That’s according to The Athletic, who have claimed that Villa turned down three offers for the Brazilian central midfielder during the last week of the window.

One of those bids was reportedly made on deadline day and came from Tottenham Hotspur, the Daily Mail reported, but Spurs ultimately signed one of Villa’s own January targets, Rodrigo Bentancur.

The Athletic’s report added that Villa want to keep Luiz and hope he will sign a long-term contract with the club.

Luiz has just 18 months left to run on his contract at Villa Park, but has featured in all but four of their Premier League matches so far this term and remains an important figure under new manager Steven Gerrard.

Aside from Tottenham, BirminghamWorld understands that Arsenal were also keeping tabs on the midfielder during the January window.

Likewise, Manchester City, who Luiz played for before Villa, were also said to be keen, as are Everton.
