‘Upsetting’ - A suspect remains in custody after two West Midlands Police officers were assaulted

West Midlands Police are holding a suspect in custody after two officers were assaulted while attending an incident.

The force has not identified what the incident in Yardley Wood Road, Springfield, was regarding. It took place at 3.30pm on Sunday (November 19). The suspect is aged in his 50s and is being held on suspicion of wounding.

The officers were taken to hospital following the assault and have since been discharged. They are being supported by West Midlands Police. A spokesperson said: “We are offering them support after this upsetting and unacceptable incident. Our officers do not deserve to be assaulted as they work to keep our communities safe.”
