Dramatic images show the damage caused by Storm Darragh as trees have fallen down across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.

Trains have been cancelled, motorways blocked and flood alerts issued as the UK has been battered by winds of up to 90mph.

A weather warning remains in place until 6pm on Sunday as heavy winds are expected to continue throughout Sunday.

In Bournville, Oak Tree Lane was closed off after trees crashed into traffic lights.

Earlier on Saturday, the M42 was blocked on three lanes due to fallen trees, while West Midlands Railway suspended many of its services.

In Sutton Coldfield, Ashleigh and Pete Riches were shocked after a tree caused damage in their garden.

Ashleigh said: “This is our garden destruction yesterday from the storm. Tree came down, destroyed fence and neighbours garden plus other fence panels being blown off.”
