The August Bank Holiday is almost upon us, and with the summer nearing an end many people in Birmingham will be hoping for good weather. 

The bank holiday is the last until Christmas time, and gives us one more opportunity to have a long weekend of fun in the sun (fingers crossed).

With plenty of things to do around Birmingham, both inside and out, the weather forecast is something which many people will be turning to.

Here’s the latest Met Office forecast for the upcoming weekend, which includes a day by day summary and expectations on how warm conditions will be around the region.

What is the weather forecast for Birmingham this weekend? 

Overall, the weather looks to be pretty good across the West Midlands this August bank holiday, with the high temperature for each day set to be no lower than 21C and very little sign of rain.

Some late brightness, mainly in the southeast. However, showery elsewhere, and scattered showers are possible across the region overnight. Becoming mostly dry towards dawn with some clearer intervals developing. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Thursday (25 August)

A generally fine day on Thursday. Fairly cloudy at first for many, but it will turn increasingly bright and sunny from the west. Maximum temperature 24 °C.

Outlook for Friday (28 August) to Sunday (28 August)

A settled spell due to high pressure as we head into the long weekend. A few showers are possible, most likely on Saturday. Otherwise generally fine with warm sunny spells.

The long range UK weather forecast, compiled by the Met Office, currently runs from Sunday, 28 August through until Tuesday, 6 September.

The summary is below:

Sunday is likely to bring cloudy conditions with outbreaks of rain to northern and western areas, where it may also be breezy and slightly cooler than elsewhere.

Otherwise a mostly fine and dry day although the odd light shower cannot be ruled out, with temperatures around or slightly above average.

Into next week many areas will retain the settled conditions with fine and dry weather and light winds, although there is still a chance of some rain or showers encroaching into the northwest at times.

Largely settled weather is likely to continue for the second half of the period, but with the greatest chance of any showers shifting to the east or south.

Temperatures are generally around or slightly above average, especially in the south.
