Council officers earning more than £100,000 a year 

Birmingham City Council has twenty-one officers who earned more than £100,000 during the pandemic. The highest earning was the Director who earned more than £200,00 during 2020/21 according to the TaxPayers Alliance. The highest earning in the West Midlands was Sandwell’s executive director who earned more than £300,000.

Car jackers jailed

Two carjackers have been put behind bars for almost fifteen years after being caught less than an hour after stealing the vehicle in Ward End. Justin Seymour hit the owner over the head with a baseball bat and rammed police cars to avoid arrest. He was caught alongside accomplice Anthony Wallcroft and both have been sentenced.

£1.3bn boost for transport infrastructure - biggest ever single award

The largest investment in transport in the region is set to go ahead. £1.3 billion will be invested to transform infrastructure in the West Midlands, including ten electric vehicle charging stations and extend the Metro to Dudley.
