Earthquake strikes the West Midlands

A 2.8 magnitude earthquake struck the West Midlands on Monday night at a depth of seven kilometres. The effects of the quake were felt in a 20 kilometre radius from its epicentre in Walsall, with tremors detected as far as Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Dudley.

Ladywood murder investigation launched as man found dead in the street

A murder enquiry has been launched after a man was found with fatal injuries in Ladywood in the early hours of Monday morning. Police were alerted by ambulance colleagues to a man in his 40s with serious injuries on Steward street, who was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Peaky Blinders’ Cillian Murphy on how he perfected his Brummie accent

Cillian Murphy has revealed that he recorded Birmingham pub goers to learn the accent for his role as Tommy Shelby in the hit television show Peaky Blinders. The Irish actor said that he went to the actual Garrison pub in Small Heath with the show’s creator to learn directly from the locals there.
