Campaign launched to end Clean Air Zone charges in Birmingham

Over 1500 people have joined a campaign to put an end Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone charges. Those with vehicles which don’t meet the emissions standards have to pay a daily charge for travelling in the area. One commenter on the campaigns Facebook page said the scheme is “daylight robbery of the working-class”.

A yellow weather warning has been issued for Birmingham as Storm Franklin hits the city.While Storm Franklin is not expected to last beyond the day, Storm Gladys is still expected to strike the region some time this week.

Police investigating a murder in Saltley are appealing for witnesses

West Midlands Police have launched a murder inquiry after a man was found with fatal injuries in Saltley in the early hours of Saturday 19th February.

Muhammed Sohail, who was in his 20s was found in a car and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are currently appealing for anyone who may have further information to come forward.
