Tributes have been paid to David Oram, the founder of the Birmingham-based photography website Brumpic, who has died aged 52 following a short illness.

David, from Harborne, established Brumpic in October 2013. The website celebrates the culture and heritage of Birmingham through photography, news and events. The website has become extremely popular over the years, and has amassed a large social media following in the process.

David also worked as the head of events management at the University of Birmingham.

Brumpic announced the news in a statement on its social media pages on Sunday (23 October). The statement read: “It is with the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of Brumpic founder Dave Oram. A much-loved husband, father and friend, Dave was a true champion of Birmingham. Rest easy our friend.”

‘His legacy will carry on’

Tributes flooded in on social media following the news of Dave’s passing. One Twitter user wrote: “Very sad to hear this news. I never met Dave but loved the old images of Birmingham of days gone by. Thoughts with Dave’s family.”

Another said: “So so sorry to hear this! What a lovely chap Dave was. All my love to his family and friends.” One person wrote: “Incredibly sad news. Much love to his family and friends. His legacy of sharing a love of all sorts about Birmingham will carry on.”

Another tribute read: “So sad to hear this, I love Brumpic, my thoughts and prayers are with friends and family of Dave.” David’s family are raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support following David’s death. You can donate, here.
