An inquest has opened into the death of the teenager

A teenage girl has died after she was found in a ‘critical condition’ at a Solihull sports centre last month.

Ella Swann, 14, was treated at North Solihull Sports Centre on Conway Road on 28 February, before being taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital where she died two days later on March 2.

An inquest into her death has been opened at the Birmingham and Solihull Coroner’s Court.

The sports centre closed for three days following the incident.

A statement from the West Midlands Ambulance Service following the incident on 28 February, read: “We were called to reports of a medical emergency at North Solihull Sports Centre on Conway Road at 9.05pm.

“Two ambulances, two paramedic officers and a MERIT trauma doctor were sent to the scene. On arrival we discovered a female teenager in a critical condition.

“She received specialist trauma care at the scene before being taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for further treatment.”
