A man was arrested on suspicion of assault

A staff member at a hotel in Edgbaston was stabbed in the back on Tuesday night (May 3).

Police were called to a disorder at the Strathallan Hotel in Hagley Road, at around 11.30am.

Armed officers attended and found a member of staff had suffered a stab wound to his back.

He was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Officers arrested a 27-year-old man at the hotel on suspicion of assault. A weapon was also retrieved and is being forensically examined.

No one else reported any injuries to the force.

The 27-year-old has been released while police enquiries continue.
