Small Heath stabbing: Man charged with murder of Nechells teenager and second arrested

A man has been charged with the murder of a Nechells teenager who was killed after being stabbed in Small Heath.
Yahya Sharif was discovered seriously injured in Coventry Road just before 5.30pm on Friday (10 December).

Hide AdYahya, from Nechells, was tragically confirmed dead at the scene.
A post mortem revealed he died from a stab wound to the chest.
Abdulahi Abdi, 19, was arrested in London on Monday (13 December) and was last night (15 December) charged with murder.
He was due to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court today where he was remanded into prison ahead of a crown court appearance on Monday (20 December).

Hide AdAnd this morning West Midlands police detained a second man at an address in Bordesley.
The force believe he was part of a group that approached Yahya in Coventry Road on Friday before he was fatally stabbed.
Police appeal for information
Enquiries to identify and trace them all remain ongoing and officers are still appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
Detective Inspector Hannah Whitehouse, from the homicide unit, said: “We’ve made some good progress but this remains a live and very much active investigation. “We’re continuing to establish exactly why this happened and we need anyone who can help us do this to come forward.”
