Police said shots were fired from a car travelling at speed in Wednesbury on Tuesday afternoon (January 16)

A teenager has been arrested after gun shots were fired from a moving car that later crashed with other vehicles. 

Police understand shots were fired from a VW Golf travelling at speed along Woden Road East, Wednesbury, on Tuesday afternoon.  The car was then in collision with a number of other vehicles before being abandoned off Crankhall Lane. The 18-year-old was detained yesterday (Wednesday, January 18) on suspicion of firearms offences. He remains in police custody for questioning.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “This incident has understandably caused concern within the area and we've stepped up reassurance patrols as we actively work to identify who was involved.
