Remembrance Sunday in Birmingham: 9 poignant photos as city pays respects

Birmingham fell silent today to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to mark Remembrance Sunday.

Remembrance Sunday is a day marked in the UK to honour members of the Armed Forces, and their families, from the UK and the Commonwealth who lost their lives in the two World Wars and later conflicts. It takes place on the second Sunday in November, with a National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph, in Whitehall, London.

Taking place at the Cenotaph, in Whitehall, London, members of the public flocked to the capital to pay their respects.

In Birmingham, a Day of National Remembrance Service took place on Colmore Row, opposite St Philip’s Cathedral. It was attended by military veterans and representatives of the region’s armed forces and is one of several events taking place across Birmingham and the West Midlands over the weekend to honour our fallen troops.
