At a ceremony in Brindley Place people from across Birmingham came together to give thanks and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms

Birmingham will fall silent today to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to mark Remembrance Sunday.

The sombre day is marked by the UK with the National Service of Remembrance, held at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, London. His Majesty King Charles III will lead the service, which will also include wreath laying from members of the Royal Family, UK politicians and members of the Armed Forces. In Birmingham, a service is taking place on Colmore Row, opposite St Philip’s Cathedral.

BirminghamWorld spoke to SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, earlier this week during a ceremony in Brindleyplace where the city came together to remember the sacrifices of our military personnel.

The event was organised by Westside BID to pay tribute to those who have given their lives for their country.
