Alison Hammond shares heartwarming clip from when she first met co-star Dermot O’Leary over 20 years ago

Alison Hammond has taken to Twitter to share rare footage of the moment that she first met her This Morning co-star. The Brummie presenter first met Dermot O’Leary over 20 years ago.

After a brief stint on Channel 5 reality tv show Big Brother, Alison was evicted from the house due to a fan vote. Following her departure, she sat down with Dermot O’Leary, who hosted the spin-off show Big Brother’s Little Brother at the time of filming in 2002.

In the footage, then 29-year old O’Leary greets Alison with a friendly kiss on the cheek, after which she says ‘alright babe’ to her future co-star. The interview is not short on banter between the two, as their on-screen chemistry is immediately present.

O’Leary pretends to call a taxi for Alison due to her eviction. He says: “Oh hi. Yeah, is that a taxi? Taxi for Alison please, yeah she’s been evicted. Thanks a lot. Bye.” Alison responds by immediately pulling out her own mobile, and saying: “Hi can I have a taxi for Dermot for doing such a stupid thing? Please? Now.”

The future This Morning duo exchange grins at their complementary senses of humour, before O’Leary quizzes Alison on her time in the Big Brother House. Alison Hammond shared the video to her 455,000 Twitter followers. She captioned the post: “Wow! @radioleary !”

This Morning viewers flooded the replies with admiration for the two treasured presenters. One Twitter user said:  “This is where I fell in love with Dermot 💕 he was just great on Little Brother. I’m loving your brummie accent”. Another This Morning fan wrote: “Wow you both look exactly the same, how do you do it ? @AlisonHammond and @radioleary  amazing duo”. A fellow Brummie added: “We watched you grow hun and love you even more now #ourBrummylass xx”
