To tie in with the sixth, and final, season of Peaky Blinders, UMC are releasing a "blood-red vinyl edition" of the official soundtrack.

Available from 27 May 2022, the triple-vinyl release features the now familiar ‘theme’ - Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds’ brooding Red Right Hand - alongside an exclusive reinterpretation by Mercury Prize winner, PJ Harvey (only available on this collection).

Also exclusively on the album are Jehnny Beth’s I’m The Man and Anna Calvi’s series five score, You’re Not God, along with Richard Hawley’s cover of Bob Dylan’s Ballad Of A Thin Man.

Other artists featured on the collection include:

Frank Carter and The Rattlesnakes (who appeared at the Digbeth-based The Legitimate Peaky Blinders Festival in 2019, alongside Calvi and Hawley),

Arctic Monkeys

David Bowie

Radiohead

The White Stripes

Royal Blood

Laura Marling

Foals

Joy Division and

Black Sabbath’s The Wizard (taken from their 1970 self-titled debut album).

The soundtrack also includes brief snatches of dialogue from series 1-5 by Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy), Arthur (Paul Anderson), Polly (Helen McCrory), Ada (Sophie Rundle), and Alfie Solomons (Tom Hardy).

Why is music so important to Peaky Blinders?

Discussing the importance of the use of music in the series, show Creator Steven Knight said: "The Peaky Blinders story and the music we use are twins, born at the same time. It would be difficult to imagine most of the pivotal moments without the soundtrack.

"I’m so glad that at last we have been able to put some of the tracks together on one album, to put the atmosphere and swagger and snarl of the show into your headphones and speakers."

Debuting on Sunday 27 February 2022, Season Six of Peaky Blinders was watched by 3.8 million viewers on the night - making it the biggest launch for the series.

The episode was dedicated to the memory of actress Helen McCrory (aka Polly Shelby), who passed away last year.

Is this really the end of the Peaky Blinders?

Although it’s the final run for the TV series, it won’t mean the end of the Peaky Blinders world as Steven Knight is already working on a spin-off movie, while dance production - Rambert Dance in Peaky Blinders: The Redemption Of Thomas Shelby - will run at Birmingham Hippodrome from 27 September to 2 October 2022 prior to a UK tour.
